Legacy Cartridge Design Notice
The Legacy cartridge line was engineered in 2012, when most tattoo machines operated with a needle stroke between 3 and 3.8mm and lower-wattage motors. Within those original parameters, Legacy cartridges perform exactly as designed and remain fully reliable.
Many machines on the market today run crazy needle strokes, paired with significantly higher-wattage motors. When artists heavily pretension needles (needle hang) on this newer generation of equipment, it can push the cartridge's internal components, particularly the retraction o-ring, beyond the mechanical limits the Legacy design was built for. This can result in premature o-ring failure.
This is why we are retiring the Legacy line in favor of cartridges built to handle the stroke length and power output of modern machines. If you're running an older machine within the original 3-3.8mm stroke range, Legacy cartridges will continue to serve you well. If you've upgraded to a longer-stroke, higher-wattage machine, we recommend moving to our current cartridge line, which is built for those specifications.
